Why the backing plate matters
The backing plate is the structural base of a disc brake pad. It supports the friction material, transfers caliper force, controls fitment through ears, slots and holes, and affects noise, vibration, bonding strength and service life.
Key sourcing points for brake pad factories
For production use, buyers should check material grade, ordered thickness, profile accuracy, hole position, burr control, surface cleanliness and whether the plate is ready for friction material bonding. Fuxin Brake can supply surface requirements when required.
Material and dimensional control
Q235B and other low-carbon steels are commonly used for many aftermarket backing plates. For stable production, dimensions should follow the required FMSI, WVA, GDB or customer drawing references.
Surface preparation and bonding readiness
Shot blasting, clean surface treatment and correct adhesive-coating preparation help improve bonding with friction material and reduce delamination risk.
What to send for quotation
Send FMSI number, WVA number, GDB/FDB reference, drawing, sample photo, dimensions or target model list. If thickness needs adjustment, mention it before quotation.
