A first trial order should not be treated as a simple price confirmation. It should prove that the supplier can handle the right reference, the right sample, the right packing and the right follow-up process before any mass-production commitment is made.

1. Define what the trial order is supposed to prove

Trial orders are used for different reasons. Some buyers want to verify fitment on a current program. Others want to test a new supplier, confirm communication quality or check whether a new model can move toward tooling and mass production.

If the purpose is unclear, the supplier may quote the wrong volume, send the wrong packing or prepare a sample that does not match the approval stage.

2. Confirm the reference route

Start with the exact reference route: FMSI, WVA, OE, GDB/FDB, buyer code, drawing or sample photo. A trial order is more reliable when the supplier knows whether it is checking an existing stock model or a new development item.

3. Check the sample against the actual application

A trial order can fail if the sample was approved only by a number and not by the real pad or kit layout. Buyers should confirm front, back and side photos, dimensions, holes, slots, ears, clip positions and any left/right differences before moving forward.

4. Verify stock coverage and tooling route for backing plates
